In recent years, there has been significant competition in space exploration among countries. The International Space Station (ISS) has come into the spotlight today with a concerning announcement. According to this, there has been a third leak in the section where Russian cosmonauts are located. Here are the details!
It has been revealed that amonia leaked into space from one of the two radiators!
Russia has faced numerous issues in its space endeavors this year. According to today’s reports, Russia’s Nauka module experienced a new leak on the International Space Station (ISS) due to faulty equipment.
In a blog post, it was reported that the backup radiator mounted outside the Nauka module had leaked coolant on October 9th at 13:00. This leakage came to light on October 9th when flight controllers noticed an alarm in the Nauka module.
NASA astronaut Jasmin Moghbeli visually confirmed that one of the module’s two radiators was leaking ammonia into space. This leak is not as severe as the one that struck the Russian Soyuz capsule at the end of 2022. NASA stated that the crew was not in any danger after the incident.
Meanwhile, operations are continuing as usual for the time being. Roscosmos stated that engineers are investigating the cause of the leak. The incident followed a recent coolant leak from a parked Russian spacecraft at the station. Small meteors are being pointed to as the likely culprits for these leaks.
